Exciting news today, one of our ewes had a baby. It was a ram. I was sort of hoping for ewes, that would have made management a bit easier, but we’ll deal with a ram. Maybe he’ll become a whether. I’m thinking we’ll have to figure that out now. That is why I was hoping for a ewe.
And we may have to figure out docking, although websites I’ve read have said it’s not entirely necessary. It also said the risk of doing it was minimal, but it can cause health issues later in life (fecal matter accumulating in the wool beneath the tail). It looks like docking and castration can take place with the ease of a giant rubber band and a rubber band stretcher that you can get for $10.
Too many questions, and really I have a lot of other things that I should be doing. So I’m just going to post pictures.
