When we first got here, there was always something new to write about. Today, I spent a bunch of the day weeding and a bit of time fixing up the goat fence.
My wife went to market today, so I had two young kids in tow. Frankly, it was great. I was weeding as my kids played, helped or were otherwise right around where I was. Sure, it may have slowed down the weeding, but I wouldn’t have changed it for anything.
Likewise while I was fixing the fence, I had two boys always ready with a nail when I needed it. The only problem was that I’m only able to pound one nail at a time so I was always upsetting one of the kids that was trying to hand me a nail. Eventually I convinced them that they needed to go grab hand fulls of grass and feed it to the goats and that entertained them pretty well.
My wife was supposed to write a post about market, but she is sick, so she won’t be writing tonight.
In other news, our cob oven is pretty near complete. I want to wait until it is closer to done and do a long post on the process. Although it may be time to just do a big post to bring us up to this point so I don’t overwhelm anyone with the process that is cob
In addition to having progressed substantially on the cob oven, we broke ground on a cob house today. Another couple of interns are building a small house on the property out of cob. Today we spent a lot of time digging. I’ll get some pictures and post that when I get a chance.
